FAQ: Invisible Sun
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

What do you mean by "adult" game?

Because we also have a game aimed at families and kids (No Thank You, Evil!), it would be irresponsible of us not to make it clear that Invisible Sun is a different sort of game. It has deeper, mature themes and is more intricate in its involvement. It won’t shy away from topics like death, violence, regret, loss, and yes, even (tastefully) sex. If you’ve got kids for whom No Thank You, Evil! would be appropriate, then Invisible Sun is not for them.

Why is the game so expensive?

It’s a deluxe game with a lot of components—4 books, hundreds of cards, a board, a resin sculpture, a medallion, and more. Like all MCG products, it will be jammed-packed with gorgeous art and mind-blowing content. http://invisiblesunrpg.com/corona/allthecomponents/

Why doesn't Invisible Sun use the Cypher System?

The Cypher System debuted with Numenera, and even then we knew it was applicable to many settings. For Invisible Sun, we created a system that was intricately interwoven to the setting, which required new mechanics. The gameplay of Invisible Sun demanded a unique approach. However, if you like the Cypher System, Invisible Sun has many of the same sensibilities. And of course, we love Cypher too, and will continue to support it.

Why isn't there a PDF version of the game?

Unlike other products, a big part of this game goes well beyond what you can put in a PDF—all the components and secrets in the game are physical. However, the game does come with a PDF of important setting and rules information for easy electronic searches (this PDF is not intended for an initial read-through, but rather to be used as a handy reference tool).

Also, it’s worth noting that the Developmental Mode is designed so that it requires nothing but the app (or the Sooth Deck). The rest of the game is designed around the other cool components to help convey the difference between the modes. So play at the table revolves around the components—the cards, the Testament of Suns, the Path of Suns, the tokens, and so on. They aren’t “extraneous” in the Action or Narrative Modes.

What's a Keyfall? What's up with the "with a Key" levels?

All vislae know that sometimes amid the rain, valuable keys fall from the clouds. During these keyfalls, wise vislae collect special, mystical keys. If you back at one of the limited “key” levels, you’ll get—in addition to all the other stuff—a set of nine metal keys that you can use as useful Wicked Key tokens in the game. If you’re already a backer, simply adjust your reward to the key reward of the same value (if you cancel and then repledge, it will change which sun secret you get). Master the Black Cube and Merge with the Black Cube backers automatically get a set of keys. When a keyfall happens, it lasts until the key backer levels are full. Then it is over until the next keyfall. When will that be? You’ll have to pay attention to learn that…

Shipping Updates
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

Current Estimated Shipping Date: November 2017

We fulfill Kickstarter rewards through the MCG Shop, which puts you, the backer, in charge of redeeming them. We will send you emails with coupon codes to make your rewards free on the MCG Shop, our online store. You then decide when to redeem your rewards, and--if your rewards include physical products--to what address to have them shipped. You may delay redemption of your rewards to bundle them together into one shipment to save on shipping costs. We guarantee a print product will be in stock for you as one of your rewards for up to one year after the product's release date.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
